Rock Trail Viewpoint of Moraine Lake, Banff National Park

Today we drove up to the Lake Louise area, 60km, to visit the lesser known, or so we thought, Moraine Lake. We will be in Lake Louise 2 nights starting tomorrow, so today we wanted to whet our appetite with Moraine.

The day started out grey and cloudy and even at noon when we arrived it was still pretty somber outside. The parking lot was full though, so we considered ourselves lucky to find a spot for the RV not too far from the lake. We stayed in the motorhome for another hour playing and cooking up lunch. Paola made some calls to our family to let them know that Shir broke her arm and that she is fine.

Finally, after eating and cleaning up, we went over to the lake and took in the great view of the surrounding mountain peaks. There was a short climb up some rocky hill that we did sin stroller and it provided even more spectacular views. The water color is a greenish hue that changes based on the angle of light hitting the tiny silt particles that the glacier water bring along as they flow into the lake. The 25 meter height above the lake made the lake look even more delightful.

After this brief visit to nature, we drove back into Banff town and strolled around town for the last time. For supper we went to the best sushi place in town, called Miki, where I enjoyed an all you can eat dinner, while Ron had miso soup and some tempura. Orr had a sweet omelet sushi and all had edamame (green soy beans) and yakitori (skewered chicken).

This is our last night in Banff. Tomorrow we head off to Lake Louise where we will stay for 2 days, and after that up the Icefields parkway to Jasper. Good Night,

-Hemi
