A & A Mesa Verde RV Park & Campground,
Today was another rainy and even snowy day. Cold and unrelenting till the day was almost over. It was raining most of the night and when we woke up as well. We took our time getting organized hoping it would let up. So we made a big breakfast with pancakes and then headed off to
Unfortunately the weather got worse at the park as it is higher in altitude. Driving from the park entrance to the visitor center the rain turned to snow. Although beautiful, visibility was low and it was very cold. No chance of getting out to hike. So we drove a bit further down the park road and visited the museum, which did a nice explaining the various stages of communal development of the Native Americans. Not all were hunter gatherers, some became farmers and lived in the cliffs here.
We walked outside briefly to an overlook to see ruins that were near the museum. It was raining and cold so we ran back to the RV. We drove through a scenic loop with some views of additional cliff dwellings, but only I got out to take some pictures. Hopefully tomorrow will be a clear day and we will try our luck once again.
We got to this campground just outside the park early in the afternoon and spent the time playing with the kids inside the vehicle. It’s a good thing we brought lots of activities for them otherwise we would all have gone crazy.
The kids are all developing nicely and it is fun to be with them as it happens. Orr is talking more and more every day. Her fine motor movements are improving and she is able to places pieces in a puzzle. Shir can differentiate most of the colors. Ron is becoming philosophical and in the last few days has asked me questions such as “When do people die?â€, “What is god?â€, and “How does a cow turn to steak?â€.
It was snowing most of the afternoon but at 7 the sun came out just as we were preparing for supper. Most of the snow that had accumulated melted away. After supper, Ron asked for some snow for dessert. Unbelievably he and the girls actually slurped some of the snow I brought in from outside.
The forecast for tonight is clear skies and cold weather, around 0 centigrade. Let’s hope for a warmer sunnier day tomorrow.
Good night,
-Hemi
