Old Faithful Geyser, Yellowstone National Park

After 3 nights without a hookup, we are staying at a hotel here in the park. We wanted to stay in the campground here at Grant Village but it only opens next week. For $125 a night, it is a bit bare, but the kids had fun jumping on the beds when we got in.

Our day started easy in the campground and we drove south towards the main attraction of the park – the Old Faithful Geyser. A few minutes after we started driving Shir puked and we had to stop in the middle of the road to change her clothes and get her car seat cleaned up. Not sure why it happened, but Shir was back to herself and was fine for the rest of day.

The nearer we got to Old Faithful, the more we felt the tourist vibe. Full parking lots, boardwalks jammed with people, chatter overtaking the voice of nature. We stopped at Paintpot Basin for a half mile walk among yet more hot springs and geysers. After lunch and a nap we headed to Old Faithful. This is the most famous geyser in the world. It reliably erupts every 92 minutes, providing a show to hundreds of waiting fans each time.

We got to the geyser 30 minutes before the next scheduled eruption. Ron was getting excited, the girls ran around the boardwalk chased by Paola. When the eruption finally arrived, it was not as amazing as we expected. But still it was nice.

On the way to tonight’s hotel, the RV’s engine service light started blinking. More bad news. We called the RV agency and tomorrow we need to take the vehicle to a garage.

Let’s hope it is not a major problem.

Good night,

-Hemi
