Turtle Bay Exploratorium, Redding, California

Today we took even more time to get organized than yesterday. By the time we got into the cars it was past noon. We drove for about an hour into Redding where we went to visit Turtle Bay Exploration Park. It is a mix of discovery museum, playground, bird and butterfly zoo, and possibly other things that we did not get to see.

The weather outside was unwelcomingly hot, over 35C, so we headed to the air conditioned museum first. The children enjoyed seeing various local fish frogs and salamanders, as well as a great space exhibit. Ron knows most of the planets by now.

We spent a few hot moments in the playground before heading off to see the birds. It was almost 4pm and we had to start heading south, so we skipped the butterflies and headed to the RV.

We parted with the Segals, who had to return home tonight, and drove 3 hours straight on highway 5 to get to Sacramento and this campground. Paola and I spent the better part of the evening organizing our stuff. We are returning the RV the day after tomorrow, and after 105 days, there’s a lot of junk that has accumulated. Also a few treasures that we thought we had lost.

Good night,

-Hemi
