The last 2 days were nothing very special. We continued driving south along what is called the Capricorn Coast. The Tropic of Capricorn, at 22.5 degrees South is the halfway marker from the Equator to Antarctica. Yesterday we stopped for the night in 1770. Yes, a town called 1770. It is the year Captain Cooke discovered Australia’s Eastern Coast.
We stayed in a campground right on the beach but had the misfortune to be parked right in front of the noisy camp kitchen. Today we arrived in Hervey Bay, the launch point for whale tours and Fraser Island. We are skipping whales until the kids can be patient enough to sit in a boat for 4 hours and then see a Whale’s Tale for 2 seconds and say wow. Fraser Island is where we are headed tomorrow for a 2 day tour. The weather here is getting bad, it started to rain just now and the forecast calls for more in the next 48 hours. I hope it won’t affect our trip.
Good night,
-Hemi
