Carlo Sandblow, Rainbow Beach, Queensland

Australian word of the day:  Ripper. As in: have a ripper of a day

Today we visited Rainbow Beach, a beautiful piece of coast with colored cliffs that contrast wonderfully with the deep blue and turquoise ocean water. We drove up through a nice residential neighborhood that borders with a national park and after lunch hiked to Carlo Sand blow.

This is a sand dune perched on the cliffs overlooking the beach 100m below. The walk from the parking lot to the sand blow is through a relatively sparse forest with an impressive undergrowth of short ferns. After 500m the sand dune appears and that’s where we took our shoes off. I ran down the dune towards the “cliffs” with Shir following relentlessly after me. 300 meters later we were greeted by an amazing view of sand in three shades (yellow, beige, and pure white) red and orange rocks, as well as the turquoise and deep blue sea water. Rainbow beach or not?

We then drove 2 more hours through the sunshine coast past Noosa to Maroochydore where we will spend 2 nights.

Good Night,

-Hemi
