Crystal Cove
Today Orr and Shir are 23 months old. It’s hard to believe that next month they will celebrate 2 years! When we got up this morning, it was cold and cloudy. It looked like it would rain any minute. We left Ucluelet and drove to the
It was still cloudy and chilly when we started a 1km Bog Trail. The bog is an interesting section of the park where the trees grow crooked and can barely sustain themselves. This despite the huge amount of rain, humidity and water all around. The moss, it turns out, is so acidic that it kills bacteria which is necessary for the soil to nourish the trees and other plants. The moss can be up to 2 meters in depth and over 400 years old!

Imagine being in a wooden canoe paddling 100s of kilometers from home, searching for a whale to kill. Only the tribal chiefs were allowed to harpoon the whales. It was all part of a very important religious ceremony.

Good night,
