See our new shoes!!!

The forecast for the next few days called for lower temperatures and thunderstorms. This was a sign for us to leave the Rockies for lower altitude and indoor activity. So we headed down to Denver today, about 70 miles away.

In the morning it was still sunny, so I took the kids to the playground for a finale, but after 15 minutes it started to rain and we ran back to the RV. I think that if the kids could vote, this playground would be chosen number one by all three so far on this trip.

We drove down route 36, with some construction work every few miles stopping us for a few minutes. In Boulder, we stopped for supplies. I got some maps from AAA, we bought new shoes for the kids, and we finally found a Costco. We had gotten so used to Costco back in California, that we were really itching for some of their products on the road. The tasty Persian cucumbers which are the closest to what we have in Israel, the beef, avocados, etc…

After we had lunch and stuffed everything into the fridge, we set out to the big city. The skies were black and it started pouring heavily. We reached our first Denver destination, the Children’s Museum just as it started to hail. For 30 minutes we couldn’t hear ourselves talking as the hail bombarding our sounded like golf balls being bounced off of a huge tin can while we are in it. We were parked far from the museum entrance so we couldn’t get out.

The museum itself was great. The museum has lots of fun activities for the kids, including special areas for toddlers. They crawled and climbed through a kid size anthill, did grocery shopping in a pretend supermarket, built train tracks, cured cats and dogs of diseases, painted, and what not. You gotta see the pictures…

In the evening we were invited to the Evans family, good friends from work. Their children are a bit older but they loved playing with our kids. We had a great Italian dinner and the children were very happy to run around the house. Ron especially enjoyed playing and talking with older children.

We are now in a not so “Delux” campground in a not so great part of town, but for one night it will do. Tomorrow, depending on the weather we will go see some more indoor city attractions.

Good Night,

-Hemi
