Shir at Science World, Vancouver

We had a lucky break this morning and it didn’t rain. We walked over to Chinatown to visit Dr. Sun Yat Sen Chinese Gardens. The doctor was the first leader of modern China. The Garden is the first of its kind outside of China and was constructed in 1986. It is a scholarly garden reminiscent of the Ming dynasty era, which means although it does not look too impressive, there are many delicate balances of materials, colors, plants and whatnot. We came just in time for an instructed walk, which Paola enjoyed as I overlooked the children.

After the gardens, we had dim-sum at a recommended eatery nearby, Jade Dynasty. Orr and I ate the most. Ron and Shir take after Paola’s taste I guess.

We then walked over to Science World, a great hands-on discovery museum for kids. The first hour Shir and Orr slept, so only Ron got to learn about energy sources and play watch a show about the gross aspects of our bodies (snot, poop, etc…). The museum has a whole exhibit, which we later enjoyed, called Gross-ology.

When the girls woke from their nap they too enjoyed the many fun options at the museum, it was hard to tear the kids from one attraction to go see the next. It was almost closing time when we finally left.

It was raining outside so we took the sky-train (subway) back to downtown where after a few blocks of walking between the drops we found Milestones, which is a casual dining chain with reasonable food. We then walked back to the hotel, trying to keep dry. Tomorrow is supposed to be a bit sunnier. Let’s hope.

Good night,

-Hemi
