Finally the rain stopped. As we have covered all the tourist attractions we have planned, today was set for doing locals’ attractions. We took a bus to the hip Kitsilano neighborhood on west 4th street and spent the morning walking around the many specialty shops. Paola found a good pair of hiking shoes. Ron got a kaleidoscope. Orr and Shir got some tiny winding toys that worked well for 5 minutes. I got a sushi lunch that was very tasty. Ron had some of the raw fish too, and he liked it.
We walked to Granville Island for another quick look and then took the aquabus back to downtown. This time we walked on the west side, through residential areas part of the way. We reached Davies Village, and it reminded us a bit of San Francisco’s Castro neighborhood. We got the munchies so we bought tasty pastries at a local bakery. The seller gave the children helium balloons which added more glee than the sugar. Ron, in a surprising move, decided to free his balloon after a while. We watched as it disappeared over the skyscrapers.
From Davies Village we got back onto Robson street for a final stroll. Finally we could walk at a leisurely pace, not worrying about getting wet. At one point we even saw some sun.
Overall Vancouver is a very pretty city, and even though we got a wet deal, we had a good time here. Tomorrow we return to the RV and head off to Vancouver Island.
Good Night,
-Hemi
