This was filmed at Goulding’s Campground near Monument Valley. The pool was indoors and heated, supposedly. The water was really really cold.
For those who want to learn the story of Pesach, this was filmed on Passover eve.
We slept well at night and the kids woke up happy. Today was a “work†day, finishing the packing, cleaning up the RV, schlepping to the RV place, unloading, getting to the airport (we took 2 taxis because we couldn’t fit everything in just one) and flying back home. With 3 little kids and lots of bags, everything takes more time, so we spaced ourselves with plenty of spare time. (more…)
Finally we had a good night of sleep. All the kids slept quietly and woke up happy around 6am. Paola started getting them organized and they woke me up with balloons and a cake for my birthday. Ron even prepared drawings that Picasso and Jacson Polock would be proud of. What more can a dad ask for?
Shir and Orr had a better night and the balagan started only at 4am. Shir still had a fever this morning and Orr seemed to be having stomach pains again. We woke up at 7am to a very windy day. After getting organized we drove from the campground to Meteor Crater. (more…)
We had a long and tiring night, even though we were sleeping in a motel room. Orr must have still been suffering from her stomach, Shi also chimed in once or twice and Ron kind of fell off his bed and needed attention. However, morning finally arrived and we headed back to the RV to continue our journey.
We drove along the south rim of Canyon De Chelly. (more…)
We took a spectacular tour of Monument Valley today. To really see the valley well you take a open back truck tour which goes into the dirt roads of the valley that are forbidden to private citizens. It is all run by Navajos.
The drive began at 8:45am and within a minute I realized I was not dressed warm enough. The forecast said warm temperatures today, but the wind said “Stupid, you should have taken a jacket like Paola and the kids…†(more…)
Orr cried a bit at 5:45. This gave me an opportunity to wake up and go jogging while enjoying a beautiful sunrise over Lake Powell and the mountains mesas and buttes in the distance. A mesa is a rock plateau that is longer than it is high. A butte is a rock plateau that is taller than it is wide. That’s our lesson of the day, and now back to the blog.
We had an easy morning. Our first scheduled event was a noontime tour of a special slot canyon called Antelope Canyon. (more…)
Today was a laid back day with no heavy itinerary. We booked a 9am cruise on a passenger boat that took us to 2 nice canyons on Lake Powel. The canyons names are Antelope Canyon and Navajo Canyon. Lake Powell is an artificial lake, created in the early 1960’s by the Glen Canyon Dam. Ever since, this entire region has become a meca for water sports. People rent or buy house boats (like an RV but for lakes) and spend a week on the water. The cheapest cost few 10’s of thousands of dollars, the big ones several million.
